How puppy growth changes by size
Small dogs often approach adult size earlier than large and giant breeds. A puppy that still has months of skeletal growth ahead can gain much more weight than a similarly aged small-breed puppy.
How to track growth
Weigh your puppy on the same scale every two to four weeks and record the result. Focus on steady growth and healthy body condition rather than trying to reach a particular number.
When to ask your veterinarian
Discuss rapid weight changes, poor appetite, diarrhea, a swollen abdomen, or growth that seems very different from littermates with your veterinarian.
